Dr. Victor Scapinheim is a bit of a mystery. It is known that he is the bastard child of a Holtburg whore and that his early years were spent thieving like most poor street kids but that's where all we know about him ends. After dissapearing for 50 years he returned with a rather large sum of money. Rumors reach from theft/murder to heroic battle in the Direlands, which is true is unknown. Although Dr. Scapinheim looks to be in his 30's his real age is more near 80 mostly due to his practice of the left hand magic that most call creature enchantment. Dr. Scapinheim is a respected psychologist in the Eastham community and therefore most ignore his "outburst". These outburst usually lead to some violent act where Scapinheim turns into what he calls "the renderer". In his beastly state reason seems useless and death a common practice. Since these outbursts last only a short time and occure very rarely the doctor isn't a real threat to people. It is very possible that Scapinheim's study of the mind and creature enchantment might of led him to experimention. If that is true then the doctor's mental state could be a subject of debate if it wasn't already.
